Services: design and production of a permanent exhibition

Architectural solution, content production and hardware supply, project managament.

Novena was the project leader for the multimedia Visitor Centre Sands of Đurđevac (Đurđevački pijesci) that opened to the public on July 30, 2021, in Đurđevac. This was a project that included several credentials. Artur Šilić was the author of the exhibition, Hrvoje Končar and Robert Bodiš were responsible for the architectural interior design and visual identity, the graphic design of the exhibition was produced by Rašić+Vrbec and, last but not least, AVC was engaged to implement and install all the hardware solutions.

It should be noted that this particular exhibition was presented on a 550 m2 area of the visitor center. This unique occurrence of sands in continental Croatia is a natural phenomenon of the Earth's geological history, showing the diversity of flora and fauna in this desert habitat.

This project (Visitor Centre Sands of Đurđevac) was awarded the second prize at Zagreb Design Week in the Space Design category. Moreover, the Visitor Centre Sands of Đurđevac was included in the Exhibition of Croatian Design 21/22 in the Spatial and Graphic Interventions and Systems category. Rašić+Vrbec won a gold medal for visual identity at the WOLDA International Design Competition.

All the peculiarities of the desert landscape and the rich diversity of animal and plant life that live on the sands are explained through multimedia.

Light and sound installation in the attic of the center. The modulation of the lights is computer-controlled.

This part of the Center contains analog-digital installations. The content is interpreted through 2D and 3D animated projections.

The cold-warm VR room contains 8 standing spaces equipped with VR glasses and other devices for a 4D experience.

The Black Room is a special attraction – it contains samples of sand from different parts of the world.

Robot Sand Garden is an analogue installation in the form of a sand garden functioning as a permanent biological experiment. 

Interactive wall projection uses motion detection sensors to trigger animation of butterflies.
